I am a Costa Rican Political Scientist based in Berlin, Germany.
I hold a MA in Public Economics, Law and Politics from Leuphana Universität Lüneburg and am currently a Phd Candidate at Universität Leipzig, at the Graduate School of Global and Area Studies (GSGAS) and a Research Associate at the German Centre for Higher Education and Science Research (DZHW).
I graduated from Graphic Design in 2012, whilst having already started a Political Science Bachelors programme, which I would eventually complete in 2015, both at the Universidad de Costa Rica (UCR).
Before graduating, I started working as a research assistant, and shortly later as a research associate at the Knowledge and Information Society Programme (PROSIC, in Spanish). PROSIC is a technologies and telecommunications-oriented think tank at the UCR. During my time in PROSIC, I conducted research on two main subjects; namely, New Media and Society and Telecommunications Regulation, both Costa Rican-centred and in comparative perspectives.
Since 2018 I moved to Germany to obtain a Masters degree at Leuphana, within the Helmut Schmidt "Public Policy and Good Governance" programme of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD, in German).
In 2020 I was accepted at the Graduate School of Global and Area Studies (GSGAS) at Universität Leipzig, where I conduct my PhD research under the supervision of Dr. Steffi Marung, within the Research Centre for Global Dynamics (ReCentGlobe).
Since 2022, I am a Research Associate at the German Centre for Higher Education and Science Research (DZHW), where I am a member of the bibliometrics team, focused on evaluating and analysing data from academic publishers, currently emphasising open access and innovation processes.
